London-based artist and producer Fifi Rong has just released her new single, ‘The Same Road’, as a follow-up to the previously released ‘Future Never Comes’. Following a triumphant series of showcases at the SXSW 2017, the artist keeps forging her signature sound which has been described as “hybrid electronica” and has gained a huge round of praise after collaborations with the likes of Skepta, Tricky and Yello.
‘The Same Road’, mixex by Max Dingel (The Killers, White Lies, Goldfrapp, Muse), marks some sort of departure from the leftfield soundscapes Fifi Rong is normally associated with. A mesmerising voice merges with a synth-driven soundscape, a display for Rong’s emotional intimacy. “There is a world inside my solitude, which has been a blessing and a curse. – said the artist about the track – ‘The Same Road’ falls into one of my recurring themes of such inherent paradox and emotional cocktail of vulnerability and strengths. There is a stark contrast between musically driven, upbeat energy and heavier lyrical content, reflecting my inner resistance of moving 3 steps forward and 2 steps back, and the determination to break through negative cycles.”
