Leeds’ trio The Boxing have just released their new number, ‘One by One’. Comprised of frontman/guitarist Harrison Warke, bassist Henry Chatham and drummer Charlie Webb, The Boxing are absolute protagonists of the blossoming alt-rock renaissance in the north-east of the country. The three-piece draw immediate comparisons to the likes of The Vryll Society, Eagulls and W.H. Lung.
‘One by One’, a track that is “about depression and the culture of silence around it”, encompasses all the hallmarks of a sound that blends psychedelic rock and indie guitars. Says Warke about the track: “We wanted to elaborate musically on the first couple of singles, it’s the first tune we’ve recorded in a proper studio and that gave us freedom to experiment and flesh out the arrangement a bit more”.
