Dutch artist Tessa Rose Jackson has just released her debut single as Someone, her new dream-pop project. ‘The Deep’ is out on [PIAS] Netherlands and is a track that Jackson describes as a track that people could sway to with their eyes closed (while possibly weeping hysterically). If you’ve every messed up really badly, and just needed a friend to nod sympathetically and say: ‘Aw, that really sucks!’ then I hope this track does that for you.”

The warm cut encompasses mellotron harmonic progressions that merge with almost whispered vocal deliveries. ‘The Deep’ grows slowly, showcasing feelings of loneliness and melancholy as a new layer of Tessa Rose’s production. The new song follows a period of three years spent by the artist working as a composer for TV and feature film, four years after the release of ‘(Songs From) The Sandbox’, her debut album. Jackson’s skillset as a writer and producer was broadening, along with her musical tastes (and dusty synthesizer collection). Hence the regeneration.

“I wanted a name that meant: Don’t worry about who I am. Just check out what I make. I make a lot. Some you may like, some you may not. But I’ll like it. And you know what, I’m someone too”, she explains.
