Hartlepool’s four-piece PLAZA are riding a crest of a wave. Their brand new number, ‘Speak It’, follows up to a series of brilliant live sets played throughout the past few months, including prestigious slots at Reading and Leeds festivals, as well as supporting the likes of JAWS and Blaenavon.
The new track encompasses experimental elements as well as the hallmarks of a band who built their reputation through powerful live appearances and a continuous attention to the smallest details. Their soundscape is obscure, perfectly described by the “post-indie” label critiques have been using online since the very first steps made by the band back in early 2016. “‘Speak It’ is about not being concerned with what other people think about what you say or how you act. – explains vocalist Brad Lennard – Always consider the potential consequences of your actions and words because in the end this is what writes your story, but just be nice and don’t let the irrelevant things in your life get you down – concentrate on you.”
