Ccardiff-based indie singer-songwriter Sam Fowke, aka Hoult, has released his debut single, ‘Pharmacy’, already included in our Weekly Mixtape this week. The track is both dreamy and sharp at the same time, and showcases an imaginative signature sound that sits in between dream-pop and indie guitar pop.
Drawing comparisons to the likes of Frightened Rabbit, not to mention Bombay Bicycle Club, Hoult’s number grows slowly and builds from intimacy into a climax that encompasses infectious choruses. “Pharmacy summarises the feeling of frustration when you cannot help someone you care about.” – says the artist – “Darker themes run through the veins of this track, yet the energetic and cheerful instrumentation represent the mask a lot of people wear on a daily basis.”
Listen to ‘Pharmacy’, Sam Fowke’s debut under the moniker of Hoult, the first step towards a bright future.
