South London’s five-piece Margot release today a new cut, ‘Coffee Stained Scars’, the first in a series of three tracks tackling mental health as a topic. Their guitar lead dream-pop concentrates on one of the most delicate and important aspects of modern human existence, spreading honesty and authenticity in just under 5 minutes of hazy soundscapes.

Inspired by a scene in Greta Gerwig’s film ‘Lady Bird’, the single depicts characters and the relationships between them, imagining to create a voice through which vocalist Alex Hannaway can express personal thoughts that are a direct reflection of his social experiences and engagement with politics.

“‘Coffee Stained Scars’ is a middle-aged man’s wet-traffic-ridden journey, and his partners anxiety regarding his mental fortitude. – explains Alex – I’ve had experience with adults of that age stoically withholding information in regards to their mental health and I’ve seen how this can affect friends and family. It’s desperation, it’s unconditional love, and a hope that things can turn around.”
